Achieve Excellent Results and Improve Your Final Product with These 4 T-Shirt Screen Printing Tips

Posted on

The beauty of creating your custom merchandise lies in the freedom it offers. You can choose what you want—from colour, design, size, and material—the possibilities are endless. Since there are so many options available, this can seem quite overwhelming, especially if you are new to the screen printing technique. To help you achieve great results, and improve your final product, consider these four screen printings tips:

1. Consider a Half-Tone Print for Detailed Designs

The ordinary screen printing method involves simple spot colour designs. Here, there are various holes of different sizes to allow for a consistent pattern as the ink passes to the garment. You probably want this, especially when working with many designs.

However, if you'd want to opt for a screen printing method with more visual depth or detail, then half-tone screen printing is ideal. This technique features a perforated screen with consistently sized holes to allow ink while varying their placement. In simple terms, dots are clustered closely in darker image spots and scattered in lighter sections. As a result, you can use it to create excellent tonal variations when designing.

2. Use Simplified Artwork When Screen Printing

When screen printing, consider using simplified artworks or photos. Not only does this make it cheaper and simpler to print, but also adds a touch of originality to your T-shirts. Instead of producing an exact image, you give it a unique twist to present it differently. It allows you to stamp your identity to a famous cult or photo. However, if you are aiming for exact photo reproduction, consider using the DTG (direct-to-garment) technique.  You may also strike a realistic screen print of your artwork using the half-toned method discussed above.

3. Consider 3D Puff for T-shirts That Make a Statement

You may want to print T-shirts that grab attention or deliver the message boldly. You can achieve that using the 3D puff, which is a chunky material suitable for creating stunning logos or designs. If your brand has a playful theme, consider the bold 3D puff screen printing technique.

4. Try Embroidery for Classy T-Shirts

Finally, if you want to add an element of class to your t-shirts, consider embroidery. Often, embroidery is associated with baseball caps, but it's also excellent for custom T-shirts. Small and neat logos or designs can be embroidered into your custom t-shirts to achieve a stunning finish.

These are the four tips to help you achieve excellent results and boost your final product when screen-printing your T-shirts. Contact T-shirt screenprinting companies to learn more about customisation options.
