Two Tips to Follow After Stocking Your Toy Shop

Posted on

If you have just finished setting up and stocking your toy shop, the tips here could come in handy.

Ensure you put packs of well-known battery brands near the battery-operated toys

If you sell electronic toys, such as remote-controlled race cars, talking dolls and walking stuffed toys, then you should put a collection of batteries from well-known battery brands, like Duracell, on display right next to these toys. The reason for this is that batteries are often not included with these toys. Many parents forget this fact and end up giving their children toys that they cannot use right away because of the lack of batteries.

As such, to ensure that the children of your customers do not get disappointed after opening their presents, you should put the batteries right beside these toys (with perhaps a sign reminding customers that those toys require batteries). As mentioned above, it is best to sell well-known battery brands, as even though brands made by other companies can be just as long-lasting and reliable, consumers usually prefer products from companies they have bought items from before and so are more likely to pick up a pack of batteries in your shop if they know the brand.

Keep the sample toys sanitary and functional

If you have put out a few sample toys in the shop that children can try out whilst they are shopping with their parents, you must keep these toys in good condition. For example, because the young children who access these toys may play with them when there is food on their hands or might sneeze and cough directly onto them without covering their mouths, these toys may end up in an unsanitary state quite quickly.

Because of this, you should wipe each toy with a disinfectant wipe at the end of the day. This will ensure that they're safe for the kids to play with. Additionally, every few weeks, you should check if any battery-operated sample toys need to have their batteries replaced (this is important, as if a toy like this stops working when a child is playing with it, their parent who may have been about to buy it for them, might assume that it is a poor-quality toy). You should also regularly check the stuffed toys to see if any areas of their fabric need to be resewn or if they have lost any of their stuffing.
