Samarium magnets have similar applications to neodymium magnets. However, they are an ideal choice when working in high temperatures and environments where corrosion is a concern. For instance, they are used in turbos, miniature car motors, particle accelerators, gyroscopes and medical instruments such as MRIs.

A high grade means that the magnet is more powerful. The magnet's application will determine whether or not it requires a coating. For instance, a neodymium magnet used to hold dental devices should have a rust-resistant coating. You should also assess the operating temperatures of the magnet.
